This morning I rushed to the window of my flat with my camera and squealed, “look at the light, look at the light!”.Â
30 seconds later it had already disappeared. Moments like that are amazing.
Discovered a little bit of photography greatness this morning, here:

Today, I painted on the last sheet of paper. It wasn’t just any last sheet of paper. There’s a story that goes along with it.
I found a spiral bound notebook of watercolor paper in the “give-away-box” at an art center in Palo Alto, California. An art center that I used to visit when I lived in that area. The paper was donated by a family member of a woman who had passed on from this life into another…
This spiral bound notebook of watercolor paper has opened a lot of of creative doors for me. Doors for which I am very thankful.
I am forever connected to the woman who once owned this paper - a connection that is strange and both tangible and intangible.
This little painting is dedicated to her memory.Â

The weekends are often for washing up. Took the car for a spin through the wash. The camera was with me of course. Looking forward to a new week. Hope you all get off to a good start and welcome in new adventures during the next 7 days.

Caught the moon as it was rising this evening. Nearly full but not quite…

Went out for a walk today and found two different types of orbs – both seemed to dance in the strikingly blue light of a fresh autumn day.
Magnificent, vibrant orbs of color (!) can be found in the prints made by Mat Daly

Good morning sunshine! I’d like to drape these colors over my head and wear them down to the coffee shop. What a surprise that would be for the tired eyes that are waiting there, sipping their coffee and waiting for the caffeine to kick in.
More soft, lovely colors that are reminiscent of dusk and dawn can be found at Audrey Kawasaki

Went out onto the roof of the office building today. This would be my view if I had a window in front of my desk. Not bad, huh? (with that blue, blue sky that appeared for about 25 minutes today in Portland).
Evan B. Harris has a new website…nice…

I’ve been tagged by Karin. Here are 5 things (some random, some weird)Â about myself.
Strange natural lighting fascinates me. Which reminds me of a PJ Harvey song I adore… “The beauty of her, under electric light. Tears my heart out every time.â€
I possess a small aviary. There are currently a total of five birds tattooed on various parts of my body – two peacocks, two imaginary birds and a crane. Another addition to this animal kingdom is a single serpent.
Los Angeles is where I grew up. When I was there in 2004, I carried around a piece of plastic sushi decoration and photographed it in locations where I thought they needed more grass (I often make up funny photo projects for myself).
Speaking of funny photo projects. For the entrance exam to the Schule fuer Gestaltung Basel, I somehow managed to turn myself into a performance artist of sorts and photographed myself (with a snail shell in my mouth (it’s a long, long story!) and a tag printed with 12 different words. After photographing myself, I printed the photos as posters and plastered them up in Zurich public space. (The project must have been a success because I was accepted into the program…)
The first concert that I went to was Nine Inch Nails, The Downward Spiral tour in 1995. Which could quite possibly explain that funny goth phase I went through.
Footnote: This little tagging game has circled round all of the bloggers I read. So I’m afraid that I won’t be tagging anyone else. Too bad.

I suppose that a lot of printmakers get going simply because they love the idea of multiples. From one design, you can make many. And because each one is handmade, it has something distinct about it. Something small, like a secret, that distinguishes it from the pack of others.
I’m feeling the need to be back in the printmaking studio. This little etching here needs to be finished up along with many others that were started and never quite got finished. Like this wheelbarrow, my printmaking waters are getting rusty. I need to get them stirred up again.
Here are a few printmakers who I enjoy very much:
Diana Sudyka
Jay Ryan

Went away for a few days to the Oregon wine country for a team retreat. The days were misty and grey. And there was a siamese twin sighting in the garden, gazing ball.
Wireless was nowhere to be found and, sadly, I had to temporarily give up my NaBloPoMo commitment. But now I’m back to civilization and back on track for thirteen more days of fun!
